Extra security when you shop online - guard against unauthorised use
If you shop online using your HSBC Bank International Maestro® Debit Card (Sterling) or your HSBC Bank MasterCard® or Visa® Credit Card, you can sign up for MasterCard® SecureCode™ and Verified by Visa to help prevent any unauthorised use of your card accounts.
You may register, FREE of charge, for any of these services by following the instructions below.
How to register your HSBC Bank International Sterling Maestro or Visa debit card(s) for MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa
There are two ways to register:
1. Registering with a temporary passcode. First, call HSBC Bank International on +44 (0)1534 616314 to receive a temporary passcode. Please have your 10-digit Personal Banking Number (PBN) and your 6-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) ready before you speak with us. Then, go to the MasterCard SecureCode for HSBC International site or the Verified by Visa site and register using your temporary passcode.
2. Registering during the online retailer check-out process. Shop online with a participating MasterCard SecureCode retailer and pay with your HSBC Bank International Maestro debit card or shop with a participating Verified by Visa retailer and pay with your HSBC Bank Visa debit card. During check-out, you will be asked to enroll in MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa and create your own passcode to complete that purchase. That passcode will be used for any future online purchases at those participating retailers.

2. Registering during the online retailer check-out process. Shop online with a participating MasterCard SecureCode retailer and pay with your HSBC Bank MasterCard credit card or shop with a participating Verified by Visa retailer and pay with your HSBC Bank Visa credit card. During check-out, you will be asked to enroll in MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa and create your own passcode to complete that purchase. That passcode will be used for any future online purchases at those participating retailers.
